Campus Sustainability Day

University of Florida’s students and faculty of School of Building Construction started Greening campus initiatives back in 1994. Many great initiatives were practiced on campus including recycling, using reclaimed water, land management, construction of green building, and others. All these initiatives were made possible due to the enthusiasm, involvement, and dedication of staff, faculty and students on campus.
To celebrate these initiatives and set the stage for future campus sustainability days, group of students, faculty and staff took on them selves the initiative of celebrating national Campus Sustainability Day for the first time on the University of Florida campus at a large scale to increase awareness of all the sustainable initiatives and to include and recognize all the departments and students organizations that have been working hard to push for more sustainable campus.
The event program and activities included a speech by the President releasing new initiatives and goals and setting the stage for more sustainable campus, telecast, and show casing every departments and students organization’s initiatives.
