ATTENTION ARCHITECTS: The University of Florida encourages
interested firms throughout Florida to apply for projects on the main campus
and at other UF sites throughout the State. In the past, the former Board
of Regents and other state agencies included in the selection process a
preference for firms in close geographic proximity to a project site in
order to ensure that firms could be responsive. In recognition of advances
in technology which diminish the benefit of close geographic proximity and
desiring the broadest possible applicant pool, when UF became responsible
for establishing its own selection criteria, we modified the selection process
to eliminate the preference provided for geographic proximity among firms
in Florida. All Florida firms are scored equally, a significant change from
past years. The UF selection criteria may differ from others at other public
entities.
