Division 10 - Specialities

Part 1 - General

1.1

Refer to the University of Florida Construction Standards for additional requirements.

Part 2 - Visual Display Boards

2.1

Tackboards:

  1. General Requirements:
    1. The type of tackboard to be utilized and the location for mounting must be approved by the Facilities Planning & Construction Management office.
  2. Products:
    1. When tackboards are included in the project scope for corridors and public areas in Medical Science Building No. 445, specify Best Rite "Fab Plate" #404-TB-F1-AF 4' x 4' fabric covered bulletin board with aluminum frame and #BR822 "Granite" fabric.
    2. When tackboards are included in the project scope for corridors and public areas in Academic Research Building No. 201, specify cork boards with Oak frames.

Part 3 - Toilet Partitions & Urinal Screens

3.1

General Requirements:

  1. Specify only stainless steel, brass or aluminum for the floor brackets and fasteners.
  2. Toilet partitions of 1" thick solid plastic are preferred, plastic laminate partitions are acceptable, painted metal partitions are not acceptable.
  3. Partitions should be floor and wall mounted - avoid ceiling mounted systems. Partitions should be attached to the wall with a full length bracket.

Part 4 - Wall Accessories

4.1

Corner Guards:

  1. Specify corner guards in all public spaces.
  2. Submit the type and location of all proposed corner guards to Health Center Facilities Planning & Construction Management for approval prior to specifying.

Part 5 - Signage & Graphics

5.1

General Requirements:

  1. All internal signage must comply with the Internal Signage Standards for the J. Hillis Miller Health Center and Shands Hospital, Inc. (copy available from the Health Center Facilities Planning & Construction Management office).
  2. Refer to the University of Florida Construction Standards for Exterior Sign requirements.
  3. All fixed podiums shall have signage containing the University of Florida logo (with State seal).
  4. All fixed seating shall be numbered and have identifying signage on each seat. Each row of seats shall be numbered and have identifying signage at each entrance to the row. Wheel chair accessible desks shall have a 2" x 2" wheelchair logo affixed to the front corner of the desk.

5.2

Room Number Signs:

  1. The Health Science Center utilizes a standard type of sign for all room number identifications. These signs are produced in-house by the Health Center Bioengineering Services Department and comply with ADA requirements.
  2. On all projects where new room number signage will be needed, the Architect shall specify a bid allowance for the Contractor to purchase the signs, including installation, from the Health Center Bioengineering Services Department.
  3. The Architect is to contact the Health Center Facilities Planning & Construction Management office to determine what room number signage will be required, and to obtain a lump sum cost estimate for use as the bid allowance.

5.3

ADA, Life Safety, and Fire Code Required Signage:

  1. On all projects where signs that fall under this category are required, the Architect shall specify a bid allowance for the Contractor to purchase the signs, including installation, from the Health Center Bioengineering Services Department.
  2. The Architect is to contact the Health Center Facilities Planning & Construction Management office to review what signs will be needed, and to obtain a lump sum cost estimate for inclusion with the bid allowance for room number signs.

Part 6 - Moveable Partitions

6.1

General Requirements:

  1. A. The layout of all proposed moveable office partitions, along with the associated furniture placement, shall be submitted to the Health Center Facilities Planning & Construction Management office at the Schematic Design Phase for verification of compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), and with Life Safety and Fire Codes.
  2. Specify only moveable partitions that are pre-wired for electrical service and with dual chase raceways.
  3. Where moveable partitions do not abut a wall, provide a dual chase "power pole" for electrical and telecommunications service. Do not plan for or specify the use of in-floor electrical and telecommunications outlets, or extension cords.
  4. Where moveable partition systems include doors, the locksets on the doors must accept, and be provided with, Corbin/Russwin cylinders as specified under Division - 8, Part 2 - Hardware.

Part 7 - Storage Shelving

7.1

General Requirements:

  1. On all projects that include new or renovated custodial storage closets, provide a minimum of 3 shelves for storage of supplies.

Part 8 - Toilet and Bath Accessories

8.1

General Requirements:

  1. For all projects involving the renovation, remodeling or construction of new public restroom facilities, the Health Center Building Services Department will provide the Contractor with the accessories listed under Section 8.2, at no charge, for installation under the construction contract.
  2. Toilet accessories should be surface mounted. Avoid recessed fixtures.

8.2

Products:

  1. The following are restroom accessories (provided under a State contract with Georgia Pacific & Colonial Paper) currently utilized in Health Science Center facilities:
    1. Two Roll Toilet Tissue Dispenser - Cormatic Vuall, Model S-4C, color: Smoke Tinted.
    2. Three Roll Toilet Tissue Dispenser - Cormatic Vuall, Model S-5C, color: Smoke Tinted.
    3. Hand Towel Dispenser - Bay West Model 665-12B (in-wall, recessed) or Bay West Model 665-L (surface mount).
    4. Hand Soap Dispenser - GoJo Model 7100-12 or 12/1000ML.
      Verify the size and method of mounting with the Health Science Center Custodial Services office.
  2. Mirrors, Waste Receptacles and Sanitary Napkin Disposal are to be specified as furnished and installed under the construction contract. Specify the following:
    1. Waste Receptacle - Bobrick Model B-368 (18 gallon), or equal.
    2. Sanitary Napkin Disposal - Bobrick Model B-270 (wall mounted) or Bobrick Model B-4354 (recessed, two-sided), or equal.
    3. ADA Tilt Mirror - Bobrick Model B-293, or equal.
    4. Coat Hanger - Bobrick Model B-211, or equal.
